Living with Automation and robots in the food processing environment-Arla Foods

Date: 28 November 2014 : 10:00 - 15:00

The food industry is changing and a new generation of employees are required. The automation and robotics in the industry are driven by demand for quality and quantity. It is not only about degree level graduates, it is also about the operators and technicians on a lifelong journey of learning to keep up with the technology utilised in the production. Employees need to be fully prepared to trouble shoot technical issues they may face in automation such as fault finding, recommending and carrying out actions. The world of technology and engineering are constantly evolving. Therefore education needs to keep pace with the changes and facilitate improvements in provision.

This session is ideal for:

  • Curriculum leaders and lecturers in engineering, particularly mechanical engineering & electrical & electronics), food processing and livestock.
  • Teachers of mechatronics/robotics and specialist in agricultural machinery.
  • It will also be of interest to business development directors looking to understand the engineering sector and requirements for apprenticeships and training

About the host

We are a 13,500-strong dairy farmer cooperative and a team of 18,000 engaged colleagues who love milk and all the possibilities it presents. We are an ambitious bunch, who strive to be responsible and open-minded to your needs and ideas. We aim to make the most out of milk to help you make the most out of life – throughout life.

Arla Foods is a cooperative owned by dairy farmers. The cooperative ethos means we all work together to continuously create something stronger and better, for the benefit of our farm owners. This principle has always been at the heart of everything we do and it is why we are still here today, and going strong, over 100 years after Arla first started.
