The Appliance of Science

In �The Appliance of Science: Applied Science, Science Technicians and the Science Diploma�, the NEF has used figures from the Government�s own 2007 National Employers Skills Survey (NESS) to identify ways in which Skill-Shortage Vacancies (SSVs) can be filled by attracting young people to �STEM� � science, technology, engineering and mathematics. NESS figures show that skilled trades account for over one third of all SSVs.
