Smart Metering Opens NEF's Briefing Programme for 2011
Smart Metering and Smart Grid Systems technical briefing was run by NEF in collaboration with Npower, The National Skills Academy Power, the Energy Networks Association to inform and stimulate a 20 strong cohort of delegates, who learnt how Smart Metering is set to fundamentally alter the way we measure, monitor and control the supply and demand of energy in the UK.
The presentations illustrated the development of the Smart Grid with examples of trial projects run under the umbrella of the OFGEM Low Carbon Network Fund. The National Skills Academy shared valuable insights into the qualification and skills framework development designed to support the training of thousands of technicians needed to facilitate the smart meter roll out, providing 'a smart meter for every home by 2020'.
