Innovation is one of those fields that are cross-cutting. The UN treatment of Innovation is confined to the SDG 9 - ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’ and is focused on measuring the R&D spend per capita, and, Number of Researchers in R&D per million population. So, this is a narrow view of innovation. I argue that using a broader definition of innovation is critical to all achieving the ‘Making Peace with Nature’ and the ‘Production and Consumption’ Goals.
Innovation is more about adoption than invention.
Innovation is as much about new processes, new operating practices and new business models, as it is about new products or new technologies. And, Responsible Innovation Leader is about careful considerations of all the contexts and pressures on the business, its ecosystem and stakeholders when pursuing innovation."
