City & Guilds, a global leader in skills education, is partnering with NEF to improve the quality of vocational education and training for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. NEF will play a central role in supporting City & Guilds development of the new TechBac – a new qualification for 14-19 year olds. Engineering will be the first focus for this range of vocational qualifications and will be available for providers to deliver from Sept 2014.
NEF will provide its technical expertise and contributions from its extensive network of industry partners. The NEF T-shaped Technologist model of technical skills combined with those professional and personal attributes will form the catalyst for developing contemporary and robust technical vocational qualifications. City and Guilds is also working with NEF to introduce other technical streams of vocational qualifications including Digital Technologies and Construction.
A TechBac focused programme of Technical Briefings and Masterclasses will be provided by NEF to support and strengthen teachers’ understanding of employer requirements, current practices and new technologies.
