Assuring and differentiating STEM provision is what Priestley College and West Suffolk College have achieved to secure the coveted STEM Assured standard.
The STEM Assured standard provides an impartial validation of a college’s STEM provision and assesses its vision and innovation in STEM teaching and learning. Colleges that have attained the Standard are attractive to employers as STEM Assured demonstrate a college’s cross-curricula and industry-relevant provision.
“We are delighted to achieve the STEM Assured standard. It builds upon our previous work with NEF to develop a college-wide STEM strategy. The NEF team were very supportive and we are delighted with the outcome. Our STEM Manifesto highlights four key clusters: IT and Telecommunications; Engineering; Digital and Creative Industries; and Health and Pharmaceutical Industries. The STEM Assured status demonstrates our on-going commitment to provide learners and employers with the right technical knowledge and professional and personal skills to support our economy in the Warrington region.” said Matthew Grant, Deputy Principal at Priestley College.
“The STEM Assured status gives us a mark of recognition and the confidence to develop and offer cross-curricula STEM provision that is fit for the purpose. The STEM Assured process has been rigorous and effective and the standard is recognised by employers. It identified an action plan for us as part of our drive for continuous improvement and innovation” said Martyn Wagner, Vice Principal, West Suffolk College.
